A few words on the welfare of a state

A few words on the welfare of a state

  •             There is no instance of a nation benefiting from prolonged warfare.
  •            To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of the skill. Thus, what is of supreme importance in wars is to attack the enemy’s strategy
  •            When you concentrate on agriculture and industry and are frugal in expenditure, there is no fear of impoverishment of your state.
  •     The foundation of every state is the education of its youth.

Precious thoughts to cherish

                                Precious thoughts to cherish

  •             If you seek truth you will not seek victory by dishonorable means, and if you find the truth you will become invincible.
  •            The world turns aside to let any man pass who knows where he is going.
  •            Make the best use of what is in your power, and take the rest as it happens.
  •           Misfortune seldom intrudes upon the wiseman, his greatest and highest interests are directed by reason throughout the course of his life.
  •           Suffering becomes beautiful when anyone bears great calamities with cheerfulness, not with insensibility but through greatness of mind.
  •          Be careful to leave your sons well instructed rather than rich, for the hopes of the instructed are better than the wealth of the ignorant.
  •        The essence of philosophy is that a man should so live that his happiness shall depend as little as possible on external things.
