Self-reliance is the best of all virtues

Once two birds lived with their little ones in the field of a peasant. Every morning they went in search of food for their young ones. One evening, when the birds returned with food, the young ones were excited. They said to their parents,"The peasant has  requested his relatives to cut the crops tomorrow." The parents replied,"My dear ones,do not be panicky. His relatives will never help him to cut the crops. We are safe."The next day also the little birds said,"The peasant has requested his sons to help him to cut the crops."The wise parents laughed and said,"My beloved ones, even now we are quite safe. You need not be unnecessarily alarmed. His sons will never help him,"On the third day the young ones reported,"The peasant has resolutely determined to cut the crops himself tomorrow. He said that he would not rely on any one else." The parents said, "Now it is very dangerous. We must move immediately to another safe place. The peasant will surely come to reap the crops as he is relying on himself only and not on others."
The birds moved at once with their little ones to another field. And, sure enough, the peasant did come himself the next day and cut the crops.
